On Wednesday, Governor Larry Rhoden announced that the South Dakota Highway Patrol has obtained a Memorandum of Agreement to assist in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) actions to keep America safe. You can find the executed 287(g) Task Force Model Memorandum of Agreement here.

“I am grateful for the Trump Administration’s quick turnaround in approving our request so that we can keep our state and nation strong, safe, and free,” said Governor Larry Rhoden. “This Memorandum of Agreement will allow our Highway Patrol to assist ICE in the identification and apprehension of illegal aliens who may pose a risk to public safety in South Dakota.”

Governor Rhoden announced last week that he was working with the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and the Acting Director of ICE Todd Lyons to obtain this Memorandum of Agreement.

The Task Force Model is consistent with President Trump’s Executive Order 14159, Protecting the American People Against Invasion.
