Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) issued the following statement:

“After 43 long days, the government shutdown is finally over. Dysfunction in Washington does not serve Iowans. Iowans deserve common sense, not partisan nonsense. As we approach the holiday season, I hope my colleagues are inspired to bring more bipartisanship and cooperation to the policymaking table and to the people’s business. During the government shutdown, I did not take a paycheck. During this season of prayer and thanksgiving, Barbara and I will donate those missed wages to our hometown churches.”

Donation recipients include: First Baptist Church of New Hartford, New Hartford Community Church and Prairie Lakes Church.
