Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst acknowledged Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory on Monday, according to multiple media reports.

Grassley was asked if it was time to acknowledge Biden as president-elect and he said, “I don’t have to, the Constitution does.”

“It doesn’t matter what Chuck Grassley thinks, the Constitution has answered that question for you,” Grassley said. “That’s all I can say on it.”

The Des Moines Register reported that Grassley provided them a one-sentence statement:

“The Electoral College met and voted according to our constitutional process,” he said.

Ernst told the Wall Street Journal the following:

“Like it or not, I know for Iowans it’s disappointing, but the process is what it is, and the Constitution will be followed.”
