Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), president pro tempore emeritus of the U.S. Senate, today received the “America’s Fuel Award” for his significant work supporting America’s robust biofuels industry. The award is the highest and most prestigious honor given by Growth Energy, a national biofuel trade association. The award was presented to Grassley at Growth Energy’s Executive Leadership Conference.

“Being a row crop farmer in Iowa, I am humbled and honored to receive this recognition. I have worked hard to open up new markets for growth in the biofuels industry, and I actively speak up for farmers in Iowa who feed and fuel America’s citizens. Through my years representing Iowans, I’ve fought to increase the value of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) and pave the way for a cleaner environment. I’ve pushed administrations from both sides of the aisle to embrace renewable fuels to improve American energy independence and reduce climate change. I’ll continue to champion Iowa farmers and biofuel producers and ensure their voices are heard in Washington,” Grassley said.

“In Washington, when you think of ethanol, you think of Senator Chuck Grassley. An Iowa farmer with first-hand knowledge of the biofuels industry, Senator Grassley is a constant source of support and offers us a strong and storied voice on Capitol Hill on our key issues. You’d be hard pressed to find anyone who works harder for this industry than Senator Grassley. We are fortunate to have such a revered member of the U.S. Senate in our corner, particularly in light of recent political gridlock in Washington. I can’t think of a better person to receive the 2022 America’s Fuel Award than Senator Grassley. Congratulations,” Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor said.

Grassley has been a steadfast advocate for biofuels and alternative energy throughout his time as a U.S. Senator. He has worked extensively with Senate colleagues, the executive branch and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to find ways to move forward for renewable energies and restore integrity to the RFS. Grassley has stood up for biofuels and the importance of the RFS countless times by calling out the EPA, regardless of administration. Grassley continues to push for the sale of year-round E-15 and introduced legislation to ensure the biodiesel tax credit is guaranteed by Congress through 2025.
