While some Republican United States Senators were reportedly mulling a government shutdown in response to President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate, Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley told reporters he does not support such a move.

“I support the goals of what they’re trying to do,” Grassley said, according to The Des Moines Register. “I don’t support it leading to the shutdown of government.”

Biden has attempted to issue mandates targeting employers of 100 or more employees as well as health care workers at facilities that participate in Medicare and Medicaid.

However, the courts are causing headaches for Biden when it comes to implementing such policies.

Grassley has said he is against the government mandates but also said if airline companies decided to require a COVID vaccine to fly, then people would have to find another way to travel.
