The Brady PAC officially endorsed Michael Franken, the Democratic nominee for the US Senate. The Brady PAC is one of the nation’s most respected gun violence prevention advocacy organizations and is committed to creating a safer America. This endorsement comes on the heels of last week’s shooting at a State Park in Iowa that took the life of three family members and resulted in the suicide of the gunman.

“We need leaders at the state and federal levels who will fight for bold and decisive action on gun safety,” said Jason Pressberg, Executive Director of Brady PAC. “Smart gun laws work and save lives. We are proud to support a cohort of leaders who are committed to enacting, improving, and defending gun violence prevention policies across the country.”

“Gun violence is a public health crisis in our country, and as someone who served in the military for almost 40 years, I am uniquely qualified to address this deadly epidemic. No one is going to gun-splain me. I’ve seen up close and personal the carnage produced by weapons of war,” said Mike Franken, a retired Vice Admiral from the U.S. Navy. “We must stop the senseless bloodshed in this country, and the only way to do so is to elect leaders who are willing to stand up to the gun lobby, which Senator Grassley has failed to do over and over again. How many more children have to be gunned down in our schools before Grassley will vote for responsible firearm ownership?”

Franken recently challenged Grassley, Iowa’s US Senator for over 40 years, to four debates, one in each Iowa Congressional District. And last month, Franken invited Grassley to a gun range saying, “Just name the time and place. I’ll be there.”
