The Harrison County Republican Party Central Committee will hold a meeting later this month for the purpose of removing Rebecca Wilkerson as the treasurer and central committee member of the organization.

The committee will replace her in both positions with Jack Jones, according to a letter from Wayne Bahr, the Harrison County GOP Chairman.

Wilkerson ran against House Majority Leader Matt Windschitl in the June primary.

The meeting to remove Wilkerson is scheduled to take place Nov. 29 at the United Methodist Church in Woodbine at 7 p.m. However, attendance is limited to central committee members. The Iowa Standard contacted Bahr to ask if it would be open to media and he said only central committee members.

On Tuesday, we contacted Bahr to ask him about the situation.

“I really prefer not to (provide information,” Bahr said.

We asked if the member did something wrong, to which Bahr replied:

“Thank you, have a nice day.”

We’ll continue working on the story to find out why the Harrison County GOP Central Committee is removing the member who primaried Windschitl.
