Former Secretary of State did a great job fielding questions from Iowans on Friday at the Machine Shed. But I do have an observation that I think is worth sharing.

And it’s a genuine observation asking a genuine question that I’d genuinely like an answer to.

Let me establish the rationale for my question.

Pompeo was one of the loudest voices within the Trump administration when it came to election fraud. He expressed confidence that President Donald J. Trump would receive a second term once all legal votes were counted.

While answering the very last question, Pompeo provided an answer that every Republican needs to hear. Every. Single. One.

Here is part of it:

“Never forget who we are and why we are and to boldly proclaim it. And if we do that, if we elected leaders who do that and we don’t let people off just because they’re from our party, we stand a far better chance of doing what it is that you all got out of bed on a Friday morning to come here and talk about.”

He also answered questions regarding the 2020 Election and concerns of fraud. He said President Trump had a “responsibility and an obligation” to fight as far as he could as hard as he could in “every single material way.”

He talked about voter fraud and said “you gotta get it right. He expressed confidence that states would do what is necessary to ensure 2020 didn’t happen again.

Pompeo expressed confidence that U.S. Senators Charles Grassley and Joni Ernst will “make sure” H.R. 1 doesn’t destroy the fundamental right of states dictating election law.

But remember, Pompeo said we cannot “let people off just because they’re from our party.”

Well, Grassley and Ernst both voted to certify the 2020 election. So it would be interesting to know where that confidence comes from.

As did Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, who Pompeo fundraised for while in Iowa and received his endorsement.

Pompeo said “America is blessed by (Hinson’s) leadership.”

That’s fine. All of that is fine and dandy.

But is that how Pompeo envisions “not letting people off just because they’re Republicans?”

If it is, color me concerned.
