Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-01) released the following statement, slamming President Biden for continuing to drain the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve and calling on Congress to pass legislation to prevent him from continuing to do so.
“President Biden would rather let our Strategic Petroleum Reserve hit zero than unleash domestic energy options, so it’s time we force him to ramp up domestic production. When OPEC+ announced production cuts last week, President Biden’s first call should have been to American producers, particularly biofuels producers. Instead, he decided to drain our Strategic Petroleum Reserve even further. Congress should pass the Strategically Lowering Gas Prices Act, legislation that would prohibit the President from tapping into the Strategic Petroleum Reserve while blocking domestic production so that we can lower costs for families long-term instead of letting foreign adversaries decide what we pay for gas.” – Congresswoman Ashley Hinson
