On this Memorial Day, it is essential that we pause and recognize the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States military.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to those who lost their lives while serving our country, as well as their families and friends.

As you take part in today’s celebrations, I ask that you take a moment to acknowledge the true meaning of Memorial Day. This is a day to pay tribute to the heroes who laid down their lives for our freedom.

“…And if words cannot repay the debt we owe these men, surely with our actions we must strive to keep faith with them and with the vision that led them to battle and to final sacrifice.” – Ronald Reagan
