Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-01) helped introduce the bipartisan Flood Risk Transparency for Homebuyers Act as an original co-sponsor. This legislation requires the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to tell homebuyers if they are purchasing HUD properties located in a flood zone. Hinson released the following statement on the legislation.

“Purchasing a home is a huge financial decision and Iowans deserve to know all of the facts ahead of time. This bill would require HUD to be transparent about potential flood risk so that families can be confident before buying a home. I will continue to pursue bipartisan solutions to improve flood mitigation and disaster preparedness.” – Congresswoman Ashley Hinson

This legislation is led by Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (FL-25), Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-21), and Senator Marco Rubio (FL).
