Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-01) today pressed U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on the Biden Administration’s failed border policies.

On Title 42:Because of this policy we are hearing from the DHS Inspector General Cuffari that there are a 100,000 migrants waiting for [Title 42] to end. Have you talked to border patrol agents on the ground at our Southern Border? What are they telling you about the need for Title 42 and the anticipation of that policy changing?”

On shifting VA personnel to the border: “Yesterday afternoon, you published this memo..writing ‘DHS is currently determining which federal agencies can provide support through and interagency agreement.’ We have heard that the Administration is considering removing health care providers from VA who help care for our veterans. So, my question to you today is – yes or no answer – is the Department of Homeland Security planning to reallocate resources, doctors and nurses from our VA system intended to care for our veterans, to help care for illegal immigrants at our Southern Border?”

On wasted border wall materials: “Taxpayers see this as a huge slap in the face, these pieces, sitting there that could be used to actually deter people from coming into our country.”
