Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-01) released the following statement after voting against suspending the debt limit until December 2022.

“Both parties have long failed to rein in spending and our nation is on an unsustainable fiscal path. Right now, Washington Democrats are addicted to spending taxpayer dollars on out-of-touch policies. They are trying to ram through trillions in new spending this week alone–who knows what damage they would cause with a blank check through the end of next year.

“In the state of Iowa, we ended the fiscal year with a surplus because of conservative and thoughtful budgeting. It’s time for Congress to start respecting taxpayers and to get serious about controlling our spending habits so that the next generation isn’t stuck with our bill.” – Congresswoman Ashley Hinson
