Republican Party of Iowa co-chair Cody Hoefert will not seek re-election to the position. Hoefert said he has been honored to serve the last seven years in the capacity. He helped orchestrate Iowa’s move from blue to red.
He posted the following accomplishments from his time as co-chair with RPI, as well as comments regarding his decision:
I am proud to have helped accomplish the following
1.) elect and the re-elect Joni Ernst
2.) elect Iowa’s first female governor Kim Reynolds
3.) elect and re-elect Republican majorities to the Iowa House which allowed Linda Upmeyer to become Iowa’s first female speaker.
4.) elected a Republican majority to the Iowa Senate
5.) helped run two flawless Iowa Republican caucuses
6.) assisted in fundraising which allowed us to go from in the red when first elected to solidly in the black
7.) took us from a minority party here in Iowa to the majority party
8.) stood up and fought for Iowa’s first in the nation status on a bus going toe to toe with Ted Cruz to get his party’s chair in Texas to back off Iowa.
9.) Helped elect Americas longest-serving governor Terry Branstad
10.) traveled over 80,000 miles
11.) given hundreds of speeches
12.) helped elect Donald Trump President
13.) elected good men and women like Ashley Hinson, David Young, Steve King, Rod Blum, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Randy Feenstra to Congress. Where now 3/4 Congressional seats are held by Republicans.
14.) helped re-elect one of the best men in politics, Sen. Chuck Grassley
I want you all to know that I leave proud of all we have accomplished together!
I have learned that in politics you have friends and you have political friends and there is a difference. You can serve with honor, grace and dignity. You can serve because you truly love serving the people of Iowa!
Yet with all public service, there comes a time when it’s time to refocus on what really matters. The death of my mom five weeks ago showed me just how precious life can be. So it is time for me to step away for now and focus on what matters most and their names are Jennifer, Ethan, Ephraim, Ellie and Emma.
So don’t call me a politician as they only care about the next election. Call me a statesman as we care about the next generation.
It has been an honor to serve as your co-chairman for the past seven years, and I can’t wait to see what doors God will open in the future for me to serve again.
God bless,
Cody
Cody is someone I know personally. He is a real conservative’s conservative. He did a great job advancing conservative principles and his service will be a benefit to Iowa for a long time to come!
