Here is a list of House subcommittees that will take place today, Jan. 14.

12 p.m. – HSB 13: A joint resolution to propose an amendment to the Iowa Constitution making the legal age to vote 18 years old rather than 21 years old. Eighteen years of age is the current voting age for every election in the United States due to the adoption of the 26th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

12 p.m. – HSB 29: Under current law, a person engages in disorderly conduct when the person makes loud and raucous noise in the vicinity of any residence or public building which causes unreasonable distress to the occupants thereof. This bill requires a person to intentionally or recklessly cause unreasonable distress when the person engages in loud and raucous noise in the vicinity of any residence or public building.

12:30 p.m. – HSB 11: House Study Bill 11 specifies that a defense of justification is not available when a person who is the subject of a nonviolent sexual advance commits a violent crime upon another person as the result of that sexual advance or solely as a result of the person’s discovery of, knowledge about or potential disclosure of the victim’s sex, sexual orientation or gender identity.

1 p.m. – HSB 4: House Study Bill 4 relates to driving privileges of person issued a special minor’s driver’s license who reside or are employed on a farm.

1 p.m. – HSB 17: This bill provides a sex offender who is required to register in another jurisdiction under the other jurisdiction’s sex offender registry, but who resides, is employed or attends school in Iowa shall be required to register for a period of time equal to the period of time required under the other jurisdiction’s requirement under Iowa law, whichever is longer.
