Representative Fisher —

Thank you for your explanation, or rather your non-explanation of your endorsement of Joe Mitchell in District 87.  This is just what we needed, another abject lesson in political gobbledygook.

I think you owe the voters in Joe Mitchell’s district and your district a more serious explanation.

How does one endorse someone who is diametrically opposed to your view on the most crucial moral question facing Iowa voters this election year?

How does one endorse someone who openly brags about working with committee chairs to squash any bills pertaining to gender identity and civil rights code, making sure they never see the light of day with any sub-committee hearing?  How is that even slightly acceptable Mr. Fisher?  If nothing else, it’s certainly undemocratic.

But you say there are larger issues at play and it’s tricky business.  Pray tell Mr. Fisher?  What would these issues be?  What issues would override the seriousness of gender identity in civil rights that has wreaked such havoc on our kids, our schools, on girls sports, etc.   What is so important that you would jump to endorse this person?

Joe Mitchell will never agree with you on this.  As a matter of fact Mr. Mitchell threw down the gauntlet, he doubled down on his position and he used your name and endorsement to do it at a public debate.

Perhaps there is some quid pro quo the voters should know about?  Or perhaps your core beliefs on these issues are not quite as solid as you like to portray?  Or maybe you’re just a hypocrite?  Who knows?

Personally I would never endorse someone who is morally opposite of my views on this topic.  I guess only a politician like you knows how to square a circle like that.
