During a routine enforcement action, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Newark arrested Fredy Alexander Lopez Lara, an illegal alien they later discovered was a foreign fugitive wanted for homicide in Honduras.

“ICE is actively working with our law enforcement partners worldwide to make sure foreign fugitives wanted for violent crimes are held accountable,” said ERO Newark acting Field Office Director Arthur J. Wilson Jr. “We will see to it that no criminal evades prosecution overseas by unlawfully seeking refuge in the United States.”

ERO Newark officers encountered Lopez Lara April 20, while he was a passenger of a vehicle stopped for targeted enforcement in Eatontown.

Officers arrested Lopez Lara due to his illegal presence in the United States. After system checks, they determined he has an arrest warrant out of Honduras for murder.

Lopez Lara illegally entered the United States at an unknown date and location without inspection, admission or parole from an immigration officer. He will remain in ICE custody pending removal proceedings.

You can report crimes and suspicious activity by dialing 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or completing the online tip form.
