The Iowa legislature choose not to do anything with regard to kids being exposed to drag queen events this year, despite last year when there were a number of drag queen events that were aimed at children.

The Iowa City Library has an event planned for Tuesday, March 14 at 10:30 a.m. for drag story time.

The library is partnering with local drag performers to present the special “Drag Storytime Party.”

“Fun costumes are encouraged and we will have silly props available as we read stories, sing and dance with some local drag kings and queens,” the event’s page states.

The event is open to the public.

The Iowa legislature killed a bill that would have prohibited such an event, believing it was too broad and needed too much work in order to advance.
