Perhaps no issue drew as much attention in 2021 as education. Parents across the state expressed concern with the incredible amount of indoctrination taking place.

And they’re sick of it.

They want choice. And they want it now.

“Money needs to follow the student,” Clark said. “We need to be able to afford private schools to save our kids from these indoctrination camps known as public schools.”

It isn’t only school choice, though Brenda does want to see dollars following students. She added the obscenity laws regarding public schools needs to be changed.

Jessica said she’d like to see the dollars follow the student whether it is public, private or homeschool.

Karen agreed.

“Remove our hard-earned taxpayer monies from our failing liberal schools,” she wrote.

A number of readers responded in support of full school choice and a voucher system.

This should be a top issue for Republicans in 2022. It is hard to imagine the momentum ever being on the side of school choice as much as it is right now. There is no reason not to give Iowa parents the ability to send their kids to the educational institution of their choosing.

Also, in my opinion, fixing the education issues will do more to fix “other” issues for the next generation than any other issue.
