Heritage Action for America put out an email about what it called the “swampy” $40 billion Ukraine funding bill that passed Congress. The Senate voted 86-11 to pass the $40 billion Ukraine package — with both Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst voting in support.

Heritage Action called it a “rushed and broken process” in which the House had less than six hours to review the package. It credited Sen. Rand Paul for insisting the Senate debate the bill, giving Americans time to analyze what is in it.

According to Heritage Action, the package includes more than $7 billion to pay for the salaries of Ukrainian government employees and civil service pensions.

”It’s a shift from previous Ukraine bills that solely funded their self-defense military efforts,” the email stated. “None of the $40 billion contains any spending offsets, meaning that the $40 billion will go straight to the national debt.”

Heritage Action shared this chart showing how much the U.S. has given to Ukraine compared to the rest of the world.
