If the Iowa Senate Democrats ever wake up and wonder why there are so few Democrats in the Iowa Senate these days, they need not look any further than their own Twitter feed.

This morning the Iowa Senate Democrats accused the Republican Party of Iowa of running a “slate of extremists, anti-vaxxers and literal terrorists in today’s local elections.”

There is one key letter in this post — the ‘s’ at the end of terrorists. The Iowa Senate Democrats are maintaining that because there is one individual running on their own — and they are not backed by the Polk County Republicans or even listed as a candidate by the Polk County Republicans — that now there is a slate of “literal terrorists” backed by the Iowa GOP?

Come on.

We know the reasons parents are running for school board this year — mandatory masking and Critical Race Theory. Sure, there may be other issues, but those two issues alone have swept not just the Des Moines metro area, not just the state, but the entire country.

Critical Race Theory may turn Virginia from blue to red on its own. We will see.

If the Iowa Senate Democrats want to criticize a candidate for school board running on their own accord, that is fine. But to allege the candidate is being backed by the Republican Party is an outright lie.

It isn’t quite Lincoln Project sending “white supremacists” to a Glenn Youngkin campaign event to try to paint Youngkin as a racist, but it is grasping at straws nonetheless.

Of course, when you have nothing else to run on, what else are you going to do?

Concerned moms and dads running for school board and city council are not “literal terrorists.” Yet Democrats maintain they are. Why?

Because it is all they have left. They’ve lost this debate when it comes to the oh-so-crucial unaffiliated voters. It turns out Americans do not like the idea of teaching American children to hate America.

Who would’ve guessed?

For the last nearly two years Democrats have lost a lot of ground when it comes to the education debate. And parents have risen up to proclaim they’re not going to take it anymore.

It is not these candidates for school boards who have been in charge while sexually explicit books have been introduced in these school systems. While one of the first activities done in a school is now asking students for their preferred pronouns. While teachers push a political agenda rather than educate children on reading, writing and arithmetic.

These “literal terrorists” who just want to afford families more options and freedom are not terrorists at all. They are moms and dads who simply believe a simple message — parents know best.
