An Iowa teacher at Manson Northwest Webster made comments about the recent ICE shooting in Minneapolis that school administrators described as “inappropriate classroom commentary.”
The incident occurred after an ICE agent fatally shot a woman in Minneapolis on Jan. 7, leading to widespread controversy, protests and national debate over the justification for the use of force.
Manson Northwest Webster Superintendent Justin Daggett said he appreciated that community members brought the matter to the district’s attention and emphasized that the district is committed to maintaining “a safe, respectful and professional learning environment.”
Daggett said the district has addressed the situation in accordance with district policies and personnel procedures, but added that due to privacy and personnel concerns, “we are unable to share additional details at this time.”
In audio sent to The Iowa Standard, the teacher can be heard speaking forcefully and emphatically about the Minneapolis ICE shooting in a raised, emotional tone, urging students to view it as a threat.
“But what you need to understand is that she was told to leave the area,” the teacher said. “And so she was turning her vehicle away. And the officer stepped in front of her vehicle, raised his gun and fired a shot at point-blank range into her vehicle. And then, as she drove away, he turned and fired two more shots at point-blank range and shot her in the head. And that could have been you.
“You think it’s funny? Because that could be you, or it could be you — it could be anybody in this room. Any of you. And the moment you think it’s OK to shoot a citizen of the United States because they wanted to leave a scene and keep in mind she had broken no law, she was simply following orders to leave a scene. The moment you say it is OK to shoot someone for leaving a scene as ordered by law enforcement, then that makes it OK for anybody here to be murdered by law enforcement. That is what you are endorsing. Anybody here. The Manson Police Department can shoot you. Are you OK with that? Are you?”
Her remarks were critical of law enforcement’s actions and framed the situation as a broader danger, using strong language about the implications of the shooting.
The Minneapolis shooting involved a 37-year-old woman, Renee Nicole Good, who was shot and killed by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent during a federal enforcement operation in south Minneapolis.
Federal officials have said the agent acted in self-defense, noting the woman’s vehicle moved toward officers, while local officials — including Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and other community leaders — have disputed that account and criticized the use of force.
The incident has sparked protests in Minneapolis and other cities, with demonstrators calling for accountability and changes to federal immigration enforcement.

Your standards and policies have to be better!!! What did Manson HS do to this teacher or (asst.)? Will they be able to teach other students EVER AGAIN?? Absolutely a disgusting reply from the HS!! PARENTS are NOT very happy now…I would imagine!
No, this could NOT be them. They wouldn’t be obstructing and antagonizing federal officers. Only a small sliver of people(oddly a lot of teachers and professors) are that idiotic.
The only reason they are not releasing details is because they did nothing. She needs to be fired at the bare minimum… and I guarantee the only thing they did is say “don’t do that again.”
She’s bullying and indoctrinating kids–this psycho can’t be allowed around children anymore!
“Allowed *AROUND children”
I see no option to edit my comment. Oh, well.
I got you!
This is insane. This woman should be fired immediately. The parents need to petition to have her removed. I wouldn’t want her anywhere near my child!
This is harassment and indoctrination of a captive youth audience. She should be fired and her credentials stripped. Even if she were not outright lying to begin with, this has no place in a classroom.
As an alumnus of the Manson school district, I hate to see this political nonsense in out buildings. Any teacher who gets to this point of being disrespectful needs to be fired immediately. As a fellow teacher, I see this educator’s behavior as a hindrance to learning. Manson is a community of 2,000 people and cannot afford this negativity by a district within our district.
Sorry an educator within our district.
This “teacher” should obviously not be “teaching”. Indoctrination is not a part of her job description. That is HER opinion and should not be told to students- of Any age. This would absolutely Not happen to them. She’s a liar and a bully. I would take my children out of that class and school so damn fast. She better be fired! She is a disgusting and sick individual!
This woman should be fired. She was FACTUALLY INCORRECT several times in her forceful and threatening dissertation. The kids should not be exposed to ANY POLITICAL OR SEXUAL commentary of any kind in school. This is absolutely unacceptable. She would have had a massive problem with me about this issue if it had been my children. Unacceptable!
