Earlier this month, Republican State Rep. Jon Dunwell filed a Life at Conception bill in the Iowa House of Representatives. The Iowa Standard reached out to ask about this bill, but Dunwell said we were waiting for the bill to be assigned to a subcommittee.

That was on Feb. 15 — nearly two weeks ago.

There is still no record of the bill anywhere on the legislative website.

The Iowa Standard reached out to House Speaker Pat Grassley on Feb. 15 asking about this bill but hasn’t received any response.

This week is the first funnel deadline of the session, which means a bill must advance through committee in one chamber in order to advance this year. There are some exceptions to that, however.

We reached out to Speaker Pat Grassley as well as his staff to inquire about the Life at Conception bill. If we continue to not receive a response, we will pass along the contact information for Grassley and his staff.
