Everyone knows that a lot of money is poured into the political system. Many of us don’t know where all that money comes from. Some of us have observed the billions of dollars that men like George Soros have donated to Leftist causes. What we haven’t seen until now is the mechanism that is used to hide all those donations from public view.

Arabella Advisors is a for-profit company in Washington, DC—what is called a Beltway bandit consulting political firm. Arabella Advisors runs a “dark money” empire, which can be visualized as a pyramid. At the top of the pyramid is Arabella Advisors, a for-profit company that controls everything below. In the middle of the pyramid are six nonprofits, which are where the money goes. At the base of the pyramid—what ordinary Americans see—are hundreds upon hundreds of fake grassroots organizations. These organizations are just websites run from an office in Washington, DC.

This structure helps hide the flow of money from donor to eventual recipient, which is very convenient for a billionaire with a political agenda, such as George Soros, Mark Zuckerburg, Bill Gates, and Hansjörg Wyss.

By deploying billions of dollars, Arabella Network plays in American politics under the guise of progressive philanthropy. To name just a few issues, Arabella has played a major role in battles over Supreme Court nominations, abortion, men in women’s sports, school discipline, Medicare for All, environmental policies, fake local news outlets, and the “Zuck Bucks” used to manipulate elections. Many believe that most of the attacks on American institutions by the Left are financed and organized in part by Arabella.

Scott Walter is president of Capital Research Center. He served in the George W. Bush Administration as Special Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy and was vice president at the Philanthropy Roundtable, editing Philanthropy magazine and producing donor guidebooks on assistance to the poor, public policy research, and other topics.

Walter has testified to five committees in Congress and to the IRS and numerous state legislatures, and he has written for and been quoted in such outlets as the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, and the Chronicle of Philanthropy. A Georgetown graduate, he served as a senior fellow at the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty and as senior editor of AEI’s flagship publication.

He is the author of Arabella: The Dark Money Network of Billionaires Secretly Transforming America.  He and his wife Erica have four children and live in Virginia.
