Rasmussen Reports released the results of a new phone and online survey yesterday that found only 30 percent of Americans rate race relations in the country today as good or excellent.

Thirty-three percent rate race relations as poor.

Half of those surveyed said race relations in the country are getting worse, while 19 percent believe they are getting better.

Whites are more pessimistic about race relations than black people and other minorities. Only 26 percent of whites say race relations are good or excellent. Thirty-two percent of black people rate them good or excellent while 39 percent of the other minorities say they are good or excellent.

Americans under 40 are twice as likely as those over 65 to say race relations are excellent.
