The Iowa Standard participated in a battleground state press call with Lara Trump on Tuesday. Lara is a Trump 2020 Campaign senior advisor.

Lara talked about the campaign’s fundraising numbers from April. The Trump campaign and RNC brought in $61.7 million, she said.

“It’s more than the Biden campaign and DNC raised,” she said. “So we’re really proud of that.”

The number to date for the cycle is $742 million with $255 million cash on hand.

“We’re obviously always touting our great fundraising numbers from the campaign because that tells us about the support out there for this President,” Lara said. “Our average donation is around $40. When you look at a number like that and realize what that means, that means there is incredible support all across this country. They are saying they support this President by sending money to him and telling him that they want four more years of President Trump.”

Trump’s campaign has the largest field program and data operation in RNC history, Lara said.

“In our Party’s history, we have never seen an operation like we currently have,” she said. “Just because we have switched everything to virtual does not mean that we have slowed down at all.”

The campaign has one million volunteers trained and activated. They are making calls, hosting MAGA Meet Ups virtually and working hard for the President. The campaign added 300,000 volunteers in March and has made over 20 million voter contacts.

“The Trump campaign never skipped a beat,” Lara said. “We’re working every single day to help re-elect this President.”

It is no secret that Joe Biden’s campaign has found it difficult to adapt to a digital-first effort while Trump’s team is thriving.

“Things are different because Coronavirus, but we haven’t slowed down one single bit,” Lara said.

She talked about Biden attempting a virtual rally during which the live stream wasn’t working while Trump’s campaign is hosting events every day.

“I think it’s very obvious that the Trump campaign was prepared for a time like this and the Biden campaign was not,” she said.

Lara discussed the contrast in President Trump’s response to COVID-19 compared to Biden’s. President Trump, she said, has done what he knew was necessary to protect American lives every step of the way.

“From the start, Biden has shown people why he would be the wrong choice to in office,” she said.

She referenced the criticism of Biden by Robert Gates, who is a former Defense Secretary for the Obama Administration. Gates said many times he believed Biden to be on the wrong side of every foreign policy decision he had made throughout his career.

“And we see it is no different when it comes to Coronavirus,” Lara said.

When Biden got wind of the fact President Trump shut down travel from China to protect Americans, the contrast showed once again.

“I mean, it saved countless American lives, but of course Joe Biden called it xenophobic,” Lara said. “And you look at a time like that, that was so critical and it wasn’t a popular decision, it wasn’t an easy decision for Donald Trump to make, but he made that decision knowing that it could save Americans and American lives and thank God he did.

“So, we see every single day Joe Biden shows us why he’s the wrong candidate and if you simply look at the very beginning of the Coronavirus, it shows you how Joe Biden would’ve reacted and jeopardized arguably tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands more American lives versus President Trump, who was able to save American lives by his quick and early action and decisions he was making on the ground.”
