U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) introduced the Save Our Gas Stoves Act to prohibit unreasonable energy standards for cooking products and block the U.S. Department of Energy from implementing its burdensome proposed efficiency standard for gas cooking products. Lesko was joined by Energy, Climate, and Grid Security Subcommittee Chair Jeff Duncan (R-SC-03) in introducing this legislation.

“President Biden’s Department of Energy is attempting to implement an extreme regulation that would effectively ban gas stoves,” said Congresswoman Lesko. “This is just an attempt by the Department of Energy to institute government control in every aspect of Americans’ lives. I am proud to introduce this important bill to protect Americans’ gas stoves and put a stop to this abuse of power.”

This legislation amends the Energy Policy and Conservation Act to prevent the Secretary of Energy from implementing energy conservation standards if the standards result in the unavailability of a product on account of the type of fuel the product uses. The bill also prohibits the Department of Energy from finalizing and implementing the February 1, 2023, proposed energy efficiency standard for gas cooking products.

Lesko was also joined by Representative Michael Burgess (R-TX-26) in introducing this legislation.
