I would like to express some thoughts relating to Jacob’s op-ed piece on the CO2 pipelines (dated Saturday, February 8th, 2025).
Iowans openly worry about dangerous pipelines for carbon dioxide sequestration, but not much is said about why these pipeline companies appear to trouble Iowans. Let’s follow the money for a bit. The monetary incentives are enshrined in the U.S. code (26 US code § 45Q and § 45Z). Our tax dollars are what the CO2 pipeline developers are chasing. Absent these financial incentives, no one would be working to dig up Iowa for CO2 pipelines.
We might ask, “Why is tax money available to fund CO2 pipelines?” Elites remain wealthy because they don’t spend their money on their control projects. They are masters at getting governments to coerce citizens to fund actions against their own interests.
Back in 1992, the US Congress approved the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, which was signed by President George H.W. Bush. The treaty was ratified by the Senate in October 1992. While the organization itself is opposed to liberty, the history page of the website for the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions has information about milestones that their lobbying has wrought in the Legislature (https://www.c2es.org/content/congress-climate-history/).
Many organizations lobby to spend (your) money on climate initiatives. Elected officials are now afraid to go contrary to the narrative, though there might be a temporary reprieve during Trump’s term.
Public schools and universities churn out those convinced that the demise of the planet is imminent due to “climate change”. The curriculum demonizes carbon dioxide as a “greenhouse gas”. The meaning of the life-giving importance and fine balance of the CO2 cycle is practically gone. Don’t take my word for it. Look at your kid’s science textbook. Past CO2 concentrations were drastically higher, a fact now hidden from all but the most diligent searchers. Farms need carbon dioxide to thrive. Need I mention that Iowa spends more money on education than any other item? Again, follow your money. We are paying for the attacks against us.
