As we close in on Primary day. Two sayings and one question come to my mind. The first saying is. You can put lipstick on a pig but it’s still a pig. With Iowa being the leading pork producing state. I’m sure everyone has heard it. That is what comes to mind everytime I see Randy Feenstra and his (lack there of) a campaign. While I’m sure Randy is a nice enough guy. He motivates no one to go vote. His lack of campaigning has been well covered so I will leave it at that. The second saying is. If it quacks like a duck. If it walks like a duck. It’s probably a duck! That ladies and gentleman is Zach Lahn. You know him? The “Iowa First” “Iowa farmer” . If you are an actual Iowa farmer , like me. You wondered how an Iowa farmer could afford to put 2 million of his own dollars in his campaign. How on razor thing margins could Zach the farmer. Spend $725,000 on a social media company from Maryland. Then three days later have thousands of more followers on Facebook. Its not only Zach’s money fueling his campaign though. 18 of his 21 biggest donors are out of State. For the “farmer” / “Iowa First” candidate. I think its awful funny that Zach hasn’t lived his adult life in Iowa. Heck, even his farm ground is owned by an LLC in Washington D.C. . That brings us to my final question. Is Iowa for sale? Randy came in with his congressional campaign money and was out to a strong lead on the finances. Zach has recently surpassed Randy on funds. But with all that money mainly coming from out of state. Can we really call his campaign “Iowa First”? We all know the deep treasure chest that Rob Sand has and will certainly expand on. If I , a simple 32 year old Iowa farm boy. Can find the truth behind Zach Lahn and his not so honest and forthcoming campaign and finances. How many tv ads do you think Rob Sand will run on tv for the general election?
So is Iowa for sale? Are we suppose to take the D.C. establishment money that Randy brings? Should we support Zach and his half truth, out of state money ?
For my vote. I’m casting it with Adam Steen. Adam has not been bought by D.C. or out of state money. He has more experience running the State of Iowa than any other candidate from his time leading the Dept. of Admin. Services under Gov. Kim Reynolds. He has the clean background, the charisma , the steadfast leadership to win this election and most importantly . He can Govern our great state!
