Monday, Feb. 7, 2022-Republican Caucus Night. My wife and I showed up in our precinct expecting a large crowd. It was just the two of us out of 3,500 voters in our precinct! We went into a room with seven precincts labeled. The voters represented in these seven precincts approached 25,000 people. There were seven of us present! If this is representative of Republican voter interest, we can forget a Republican victory in the November election. It looks like the Republican Party in Iowa is nonexistent! We were shocked and disgusted.

  1. We had the same experience in our precinct. Many people do not understand how to be involved and others are simply intimidated by the process. Note: the caucus is very different experience during a presidential election cycle.

  2. It was a dismal showing in Pella too: 35 this year (5 precincts), 200 in 2020 and 1,776 in 2016. Patriotism and activism are waning. We are up against a Goliath that has deep pockets. 2022 is pivotal and will determine if we even keep our Constitution. 3% is more like .03% in my opinion.
