Well, Iowa legislators. Here’s your chance of a lifetime. A great opportunity to find out the truth. The truth about dog auctions.
Every year you are subjected to the litany of how bad the conditions are at commercial dog breeder kennels. The dastardly act of selling dogs at a dog auction attended by other licensed, inspected professional dog breeders looking to add new blood to their breeding program. Only licensed and inspected professional breeders are allowed to sell at auction. Those dogs MUST be clean, microchipped, in good health, current health certificate signed by a licensed veterinarian. Any flaws, such as, but not limited to an underbite, loose knees, spot in an eye are all called out prior to bidding. There is a licensed veterinarian present during the sale. If one buys a dog to take out of state, then that dog must be seen by the vet and issued yet another health certificate. A brucellosis snap test will also be conducted upon request. Puppies must be minimally 8 wks. old, unless a variance is issued by USDA, such as a kennel sell out.
Learn the truth.
Legislators and the media have been selectively spoon fed emotion inducing stories about horrible conditions of the sales arena, how the dogs are handled so abusively, and even worse, the conditions of the dogs sold at auctions. And don’t forget about the degrading remarks that are an embarrassment to the dogs. Eye roll. The proclamation of animal maltreatment being a top three concern this past legislative session attests to how well that technique works. An infamous German back in the late 1930’s early 40’s, made a statement to the effect of repeat a lie long enough and it will become truth to certain peoples.

You will have a front row seat to watch the bidding wars of buyers. The most intense bidding is not by the breeders, but between….gasp….rehomers(rescues)!!!! With the self aggrandizing, saintly claim they are “saving” these dogs from going back into horrific conditions. Listen and watch how big dollars are spent on certain breeds. Money raised from people that have swallowed the wrenching stories of dogs are kept in such small cages they are deformed, feet splayed with sores from walking on “chicken wire”, no food, water, vet care, kept in the dark, don’t know how to walk on grass, never felt a caring human hand. Blah. Blah. Blah.
Learn the truth.
The auction will be held, Saturday, May 4 at 9 a.m. at 1458 – 110th Place Knoxville, IA. The auctioneers and sales personnel would probably be happy to visit with you and give you correct information.
See you there?
Learn the truth.
