Trimming the fat, eliminating the pork, making them squeal, and wearing paper bags on your head were words and actions to bring light and shame to how legislation is crafted, is watered down, and often embarrassingly passed as a part of our legislative process.

Over my 40 years of witnessing how the sausage was made I’ve never seen anything like I’ve witnessed over the last few years.  The fact we have elected officials that will wait for freedoms to be stripped, liberties bastardized, and stand in solidarity while jobs are lost, income is stolen, debt is incurred, savings are tapped, and dignity is trampled.  Once the damage is done these same elected officials will cheer on constituents that demand change.  Some will even grab a microphone and tell you they’re on YOUR side!  Informed Choice Iowa, Iowans 4 Freedom, and individuals from the Missouri River to the Mississippi River show up daily under the golden dome only to be appeased by some elected officials while the few staunch constitutional warriors battle on their behalf.

I appreciate the 2A work that happened over the last few years and the steadfast lobbying and professional and persistence paid off. Our medical freedom is just as paramount as our 2A rights in my opinion but medical freedom doesn’t have the fiscal backing as 2A but it will when people get serious about the overreach.

When you look at the constituency that wants medical freedom in comparison to the other advocacy groups that walk the walk I don’t think there’s a comparable group of patriots.

As the session appears to be winding down and the coveted campaign season for incumbents seeking reelection has already started. The slap in the face of freedom that is being threatened by placing medical freedom in a hot dish casserole that includes tort reform, unemployment language, local government policy, land acquisition overreach, and a hodgepodge of miscellaneous “things” is downright embarrassing.

Lastly, in coming days and weeks you’re going to be bombarded by candidates that will tell you, “this is the best we/they could do” for you.  I’d tell you, tell them you’ve watched Pawn Stars and you want someone to stand for the constitution, not someone that will settle for a pile of garbage.

There’s still a week to get 50 signatures to run for Iowa House or 100 signatures to run for Senate…

  1. This letter to the Editor is spot on. The RINOS have demolished the original intent of this bill after so many freedom loving Iowans worked so hard on to ensure medical freedom and health privacy. I hold the house leadership accountable. Especially Pat Grassley, as his action show he has not intention of doing the work of the people. He is beholden to his Grandfather, who gives Pat his marching order.
