One Iowa Action, an LGBTQ+ group, is alerting radical Iowans that Gov. Kim Reynolds along with the GOP-controlled legislature is planning to introduce legislation removing so-called “gender identity” from the Iowa Civil Rights Act.
Sexual orientation and gender identity were added to the Iowa Civil Rights Act in 2007 when Democrats had control of state government. While Democrats were in control in 2007, nine Republicans in the Iowa House joined Democrats at the time to pass the bill with 59 votes. The bill would not have passed without Republican support.
“Gender identity,” which is really someone who is confused and claiming to be the opposite sex, has led to a number of horrible consequences for Iowans. Incidents have happened such as a man who “identifies” as a woman using the female facilities at the Forest City YMCA, a teenage girl going topless at the Pella pool because she “identified” as a male and numerous other issues. The legislature addressed some of these in previous years like protecting women’s sports and restricting bathroom use to be based on sex in Iowa schools.
The Iowa Civil Rights Act has protected individuals based on sex much longer than the recently invented concept of “gender identity.” Ultimately, it is impossible for the civil rights code to protect individuals based both on sex and gender identity.
However, the LGBTQ+ radicals are claiming Gov. Reynolds is going to introduce legislation to remove this status.
One Iowa Action is encouraging Iowans to contact State Rep. Steve Holt, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee, as well as Speaker Pat Grassley. The group is also planning a phone and text bank on Jan. 27.

Democrat State Rep. Joseph “Aime” Wichtendahl, who “identifies” as a woman, took to Facebook on Saturday sharing concern with the supposed proposal as well. Wichtendahl called it “inside information.”
“From what we hear, Gov. Reynolds is planning to go ahead and move forward with removing gender identity from the Iowa Civil Rights Act,” Wichtendahl said.
Wichtendahl said word from inside the Capitol that Republicans plan to move quickly with the bill and ram it through the legislature in a single day.
“They are trying to do this very quickly because they don’t want people to show up, they don’t want people to speak out against this bill, they’re trying to catch everybody by surprise,” Wichtendahl said.
Currently, no bill removing “gender identity” from the Civil Rights Act has been filed.
