A national phone and online survey released last week by Rasmussen Reports shows that support for Israel has dropped significantly among likely American voters. Forty-one percent of those polled said they sympathize more with Israel than the Palestinians. That’s a drop from 48 percent in February of 2024 and an even bigger decrease from 59 percent in November of 2023.
Twenty-eight percent of those asked said they are more sympathetic to the Palestinians — a seven-point bump from February of 2024. Thirty-one percent of likely voters said they are undecided.
As for the current policy of President Donald J. Trump regarding the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, 36 percent of voters believe the policy is too favorable toward Israel. Eleven percent said they think it is too favorable toward the Palestinians. Thirty-four percent said the current policy is about right while 19 percent said they are not sure.
In January of 2024, Israel faced charges of genocide in the International Court of Justice. At the time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the claim isn’t just false, but called it “outrageous.” At the time, 55 percent of U.S. voters agreed. Now just 47 percent agree.
Unaffiliated voters are evenly split, with 41 percent at least somewhat agreeing with Netanyahu’s statement and 41 percent at least somewhat disagreeing.
