There is a history of service that runs through my family when it comes to the United States Navy. I have the upmost respect for those who serve in the military.

But in this case, the United States Navy is wrong.

This is a video I saw on Facebook earlier this week.

“We’re celebrating this diversity that makes our Navy so strong,” says Ben Gregoire, a Pride Run Participant.

A caption then pops up that says “this is a time to celebrate the contributions of our LGBTQ+ sailors.”

And then a voice reads “we are committed to celebrating strength through our diversity, from boot camp to fleet, every sailor is vital to completing the mission of getting home to their loved ones.”

Then it shows same-sex couples making out and sailors marching in a Pride Parade.

Diversity undoubtedly can be a good thing, but not if it isn’t morally neutral.

With the Navy’s full-on embrace of homosexuality and transgenderism, I wonder how welcome Christians or Americans who simply hold to basic biological principles are in the branch.

This is yet one more example of how our country is living through a Romans 1 type scenario.

Romans 1:18 begins:

“The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshipped and served creating things rather than the Creator–who is forever praised. Amen.

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even theirh women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil, they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things, but also approve of those who practice them.”

As you can see, it isn’t “loving” or “merciful” to approve of those who practice things “deserving of death.”

God’s Word — not mine, by the way.

And we wonder why this country seems to be tearing apart at the seams. After decades of killing unborn babies, inventing policies to eliminate the need for traditional, mom-and-dad households, removing God from the public sphere and the public school and now making a mockery of marriage (which was first done through no-fault divorce and now allowing same-sex marriage) — should it really surprise us to see things unraveling so fast in America?

One cannot look at the founding of this nation and not see God’s hand in it all. That would require a special kind of ignorance of history and fact.

And now look at what we have done with what He has given us.

I posted some comments on this video post about how great the Navy’s diversity is. They were relatively short and expressed my disgust at such a video.

They were deleted.

So much for diversity.

To those who have hardened hearts, this might sound a bit “hateful.” But to those who have truly been saved and rescued from their own sin, they will recognize this as a display of true love. A warning. Someone who is watching people near the edge of a cliff and crying out to them “NO! STOP! TURN AWAY!”

I absolutely love this country. But it is in desperate need of a spiritual revival.

Many Christians are waiting for politicians in Des Moines or D.C. to fix these societal ailments. But they should be looking within. First, at themselves. Then, in their homes. And finally, most importantly, in their church.

If their church isn’t leading this country in a direction of repentance, why should they expect anyone else to do so?

If you can read that section of Romans 1 and not believe America is experiencing its own Romans 1 moment, I’m not sure I can help you.

But if you read that and recognize that those words written thousands of years ago are just as applicable today in our country as they were then in a far-off land, then tell me, what are you going to do about it?
