The Iowa Standard has chronicled the problems with GLBT Youth In Iowa Schools Task Force (fictitious name is “Iowa Safe Schools”) for the last couple of years.
From a virtual drag queen story hour about Santa’s gay wedding, which Jesus attended, to an “inclusive sex ed” presentation at last year’s Iowa Governor’s Conference that compared holding hands to rimming. Damian Thompson, the Director of Public Policy & Communications, played an integral part of flying the transgender flag at the Capitol, which made Iowa the first state in the nation to fly the transgender pride flag above the building.
The group also denied admission to its virtual governor’s conference last year based on a person’s Christian beliefs. You can read about the vulgarity of past governor’s conferences here. We also layout the details of just how dangerous and wicked GLBT Youth in Iowa Schools Task Force really is here.
The group stands against some pretty basic Republican Party platform principles. Not to mention basic biology.
Thompson is also in charge of the Central Iowa Young Republicans. You can see him here with Ashley Hunt, the president of the Iowa Federation of Young Republicans who we chronicled here.
Thompson also previously worked in Gov. Kim Reynolds’ office and Congressman David Young.
