A new poll from Gallup is encouraging. It reveals a large majority of Americans oppose allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports.

When asked if they think transgender athletes should be able to play on sports teams that match their current gender identity or should only be allowed to play on sports teams that match their birth gender, 62 percent of American adults said they should only be allowed to play on teams that match their biological sex.

Among Independents, 63 percent said the same. Eighty-six percent of Republicans agreed.

Democrats were the lone outlier as 55 percent of Democrats supported transgender athletes playing on teams that match their gender identity.

The poll contradicts what a PBS NewsHour-NPR/Marist poll reported in April.

American Principles Project torched that poll, saying it was safe to ignore due to its misleading wording.
