While a majority of likely U.S. voters told Rasmussen Reports they believe they live in a country that is generally fair, most Democrats claim America is unfair and discriminatory.

Fifty-four percent of likely voters say American society is generally fair and decent. Thirty-eight percent disagree.

However, among Democrats, 54 percent say American society is basically unfair and discriminatory. Only 38 percent say America is fair and decent.

Republicans say America is fair and decent at a 72 percent clip. Fifty-one person of voters unaffiliated with either major party believe the same.

Not surprisingly, older voters are much more likely to believe America is fair and decent. Most voters under 40 believe it is unfair and discriminatory.

Sixty-two percent of white voters say America is fair and decent while 59 percent of black Americans believe it is unfair and discriminatory.
