Matthew Smith, a lifelong Northeast Iowan and active member of the District 63 community, announces his candidacy for State Representative of Iowa House District 63.
Committed to delivering next-generation leadership that places families, farmers, and rural
communities first, Smith will produce measurable results for the hardworking residents of
Winneshiek, Howard, and portions of Fayette counties in Northeast Iowa.
Smith is happily engaged to his fiancée, Alyssa. While earning bachelor’s degrees in history and political science at Luther College (Class of 2025) in Decorah, he worked as an archaeological field technician. He has also supported grassroots campaigns at the federal level and maintains deep involvement in local efforts, ensuring District 63 will have a representative who serves its people faithfully.
“As a young Iowan, I see the danger if we refuse to stand up for our most basic beliefs. We do not need to look any further than Minnesota or Illinois to see what happens when liberals are in charge. I am running because it is not enough to elect Republicans to serve. We need conservative champions who are committed to defending private property rights, standing up for unborn life, dismantling woke indoctrination and reinforcing parental rights in education.”
Smith seeks the position to provide District 63 with the strong, principled voice it requires in Des Moines. He will defend property rights, protect school choice so that parents have the final say in where their child goes to school, uphold pro-life values in the legislature, and fight the woke agenda that is corrupting our great state.
A firm advocate of limited government, fiscal responsibility and complete transparency, Smith will ensure every taxpayer dollar is spent wisely and accountably.
