On Friday, August 27th, 2021, Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-02) introduced the Ensuring Evacuation from Afghanistan Act. This legislation would prohibit the distribution of federal funds to Afghanistan until all Americans and our allies have been fully evacuated.

“We have an obligation to work around the clock to bring home all American soldiers and citizens from Afghanistan. We also have a moral obligation to help Afghans who assisted American operations during our twenty years there,” said Miller-Meeks. “Given the events over the last few days, I am introducing the Ensuring Evacuation from Afghanistan Act to prevent taxpayer dollars from going to Afghanistan until President Biden certifies that all Americans and our partners are safely out. We have no time to waste, and I hope we can act quickly before more lives are lost.”
