Much has been made in Iowa’s Second Congressional District Republican primary for U.S. House between Bobby Schilling and Mariannette Miller-Meeks when it comes to each other’s conservative credentials.

Miller-Meeks has been hit over pro-choice comments in the past that the campaign says were essentially accidental. An old tweet from Miller-Meeks from the 2016 election also showed she believed both Trump and Hillary Clinton to be liars and corrupt.

Schilling has been targeted by Miller-Meeks as a carpetbagger who hasn’t always had President Trump’s back.

More details have been unearthed from Miller-Meeks’ twitter history, however.

In 2016, Miller-Meeks shared a story from the Washington Examiner titled “A Thoughtful Approach to the Transgender Bathrooms Controversy.”

The article was written by someone who did not support North Carolina’s bathroom bill.

In an older tweet, this one from 2010, a Twitter user named Shay O’Reilly said he talked with Miller-Meeks about the “trans marriage” issue, which she reportedly said is “hard” and that it points out the contradiction between social conservatism and small government.

The Miller-Meeks campaign was asked for clarification on her position on these issues, but has not yet responded.
