More than one-third of Democrats would like to see California Gov. Gavin Newsom challenge President Joe Biden in 2024. According to a new Rasmussen Reports national phone and online survey, 37 percent of likely voters have a favorable impression of Newsom. Forty-three percent view Newsom unfavorably.

Thirty-six percent of Democrats said Newsom should challenge Biden, while just 43 percent disagreed. Interestingly, 32 percent of Republicans and 29 percent of unaffiliated voters would also like Newsom to challenge Biden.

While Newsom is viewed favorably by 59 percent of Democrats, just 18 percent of Republicans and 34 percent of unaffiliated voters also hold a favorable view of him.

According to Rasmussen, black voters are most opposed to Newsom challenging Biden for the Democrat nomination.
