Fifty-five percent of likely U.S. voters believe congressional Democrats are “too liberal” on most issues according to a new national phone and online survey by Rasmussen Reports. Sixteen percent believe they are too moderate. Twenty percent said their policies are about right.
Thirty-six percent of voters said congressional Republicans are too conservative. Twenty-one percent said they are too moderate and 33 percent said they are just about right.
Senator Mitch McConnell said last week there is no mandate to “fundamentally transform America into something it’s never been.” Sixty-four percent of voters agree with McConnell’s quote. Twenty percent disagree and 16 percent were not sure.
Just 36 percent of Democrats said their party’s policies are about right. Fifty percent of Republicans said the GOP’s members of Congress are about right.
Of unaffiliated voters, 60 percent said Democrats in Congress are too liberal. Twenty-six percent of Republicans are too conservative, those same unaffiliated voters said.
