A new ad released today exposes Nebraska gubernatorial candidate Jim Pillen’s illegal immigration problems.

A former Pillen employee filed a “whistle blower lawsuit” alleging in federal court documents that Jim Pillen knowingly hired illegal immigrants and schemed to break federal law by falsifying their documents to avoid paying taxes.

But the whistleblower’s lawsuit? After months of litigation, it magically disappeared before the court had the opportunity to rule.

When local media asked for an explanation of the settlement, Pillen’s campaign refused to comment.

“It was not immediately clear whether the two sides had reached a settlement agreement.” KMTV 3 (CBS Omaha)

“Neither lawyer handling the federal civil suit returned calls seeking comment.”Omaha Daily Record

“A spokesperson for the Pillen campaign confirmed that the case was dismissed but said the campaign had no comment.”Omaha World Herald

So, what happened?

Did Jim Pillen buy the whistleblower’s silence? And for how much? Why didn’t Pillen want his day in court to prove his innocence?

Nebraska voters deserve to know.

The new ad, titled “Border Problem” begins running statewide on television, digital, and social media today.

Transcript: “Border Problem” :30
