Representative Zach Nunn released the following statement after the U.S. Department of the Treasury issued long-awaited guidance on the Section 45Z Clean Fuel Production Credit—a critical step toward restoring certainty for Iowa farmers and biofuel producers and unlocking new investment in rural communities.

The guidance brings clarity after months of uncertainty and will help strengthen rural jobs, expand domestic energy production, and reinforce American supply chains.

“I fought to secure the 45Z credit so Iowa farmers and biofuel producers would have the certainty they need to invest, plan, and grow,” said Rep. Nunn. “By strengthening domestic supply chains and recognizing the sustainable farming practices Iowa producers are leading the world in, Treasury’s guidance gives our producers the confidence to move projects forward, grow good-paying rural jobs, and ensure Iowa remains a cornerstone of American energy dominance.”

While this guidance marks meaningful progress—particularly in prioritizing domestic production—Rep. Nunn stands ready to work with Treasury to ensure the final rule reflects the needs of Iowa producers.

“I am grateful the Treasury Department is providing farmers and producers with the clarity they’ve been asking for,” continued Rep. Nunn. “I look forward to continuing to engage with Secretary Bessent to ensure the final rule puts Iowa producers first and delivers the certainty our rural economy depends on.”
