Annie Karni, a White House correspondent for The New York Times, told CNN that the uproar over former President Barack Obama’s birthday party is being “overblown.”

“They’re following all the safety precautions,” she said. “People are going to sporting events that are bigger than this. This is going to be safe. This is a sophisticated, vaccinated crowd. And this is just about optics, it’s not about safety.”

To be fair, Karni did say that was what “other people” were saying. Nonetheless, it is quite the elitist view to look at it as the “sophisticated, vaccinated crowd.”
