On Tuesday, the campaign of Jim Carlin for U.S. Senate marks one full month since Republican candidate Jim Carlin issued a formal challenge to Rep. Ashley Hinson for a substantive, public debate ahead of the June 2 Republican primary. Despite repeated calls and public renewals—including at the Linn County Republican Convention in Hinson’s home county—Rep. Hinson has offered no response, no agreement, and no willingness to engage Iowa voters directly on the critical issues facing our state and nation.
Jim Carlin, a former Iowa State Senator, U.S. Army veteran, and committed America First conservative, has emphasized the need for voters to hear unfiltered contrasts on priorities like fiscal responsibility, securing the border, restoring national sovereignty, holding government accountable, and rejecting endless wars and establishment politics. Carlin has positioned himself as a MAGA/MAHA patriot who has voted for President Trump three times and stands against RINO tendencies, including criticisms of Hinson’s record on issues like FISA surveillance and foreign aid.
“One month ago, I challenged Rep. Hinson to debate so Iowans could see the clear differences in our visions for America’s future,” Carlin said. “Silence isn’t leadership—it’s avoidance. Voters deserve to hear why she supports certain policies that undermine our sovereignty and fiscal health, while I fight for secure borders, accountability for Big Pharma, free speech, and putting America First. The primary is about ideas, not orchestrated announcements or donor rewards. I renew my call today: Debate me, Rep. Hinson. Let Iowa decide.”
The Carlin campaign continues to build momentum with grassroots support, endorsements from Iowa leaders, and a focus on bold, principled conservatism. Iowans are encouraged to visit carlinforussenate.com to learn more and join the effort.
With no response after a full month, the question remains: Why won’t Rep. Hinson face the voters in a debate?
