Just 40 percent of American adults believe the royal racism accusations made by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during their interview with Oprah.

A new Rasmussen Reports phone and online survey revealed 32 percent of Americans do not believe the British royals are racist and 27 percent said they are unsure.

While the story dominated the news cycle, just eight percent of Americans said they follow news about the British royal family “very closely.” Thirty-eight percent said they do not follow the family very closely and 25 percent said they do not follow them at all.

Fourteen percent of Democrats said they follow news of the royal family very closely while just seven percent of Republicans said the same. Unaffiliated voters are even lower at three percent.
