Democrat U.S. Senate candidate Theresa Greenfield tells voters all the time she doesn’t accept special interest money. Many in the media take her at her word.

But last week, the Center for Responsive Politics’ Open Secrets found Greenfield has indeed accepted more than $20 million in assistance from liberal Washington groups.

The Senate Majority PAC — a super PAC linked to Sen. Chuck Schumer — has dumped $11.8 million to help Greenfield in Iowa. The PAC’s “affiliated dark money” group Majority Forward and Fred Eychaner (a Chicago media publisher and major Dem donor), have each given $8 million to Senate Majority PAC this election cycle.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has spent $1.3 million opposing Ernst. EMILY’S List-affiliated super PAC Women Vote! spends millions in elections to support pro-abortion women and has spent $2.6 million opposing Ernst.

Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund, a gun-control group, has poured $2.2 million into the campaign against Ernst.

The Lincoln Project, a group of supposed current and former Republicans committed to keeping President Trump from being re-elected, has also spent $202,000 in opposition to Ernst.

Why has all this special interest money from leftist groups been invested in Greenfield? Because these groups know that Ernst will stand for life and the Second Amendment. Ernst is a roadblock to the Democrat agenda in the U.S. Senate.

“Though Theresa Greenfield misleads Iowans into thinking she doesn’t accept assistance from special interests, the fact is liberal outside groups fuel her candidacy and have spent over $20 million on her behalf,” said Joni Ernst spokesperson Melissa Deatsch. “Despite her dishonesty, if elected, Greenfield will be beholden to the extreme coastal-elite liberals bankrolling her campaign.”
