With less than three months to go until Election Day, American Principles Project (APP) is preparing a major campaign effort in multiple battleground states to highlight Democrats’ extremism on cultural issues—including their support for policies which would allow biological males to compete in women’s sports. APP will be launching its first digital ads as part of this campaign next week.

Today, Politico Magazine profiled APP’s past work and current plans in an important story on how the women’s sports and related issues are likely to feature in the 2020 election:

In late September, during the final tense weeks of the Kentucky governor’s race, a few hundred thousand voters started seeing ads in their Facebook feeds, YouTube channels and text messages. One spot showed a teenage boy dominating a high school girls wrestling competition. The other showed a boy easily winning a girls track race. Both ads posed the same question: Is this fair?

The ads were the brainchild of Terry Schilling, a conservative activist, who runs a think tank called the American Principles Project and thinks ads like these are precisely what Republicans need to win this fall’s elections. … “What we found was the sports issue got the most powerful response from people, specifically conservative Democrats and independents,” Schilling would explain to me later.

[…]

Next week, APP will debut two ads in battleground Michigan that accuse former Vice President Joe Biden, who has generally used his platform to promote protections for LGBTQ youth, of endorsing “gender change treatments for minors,” including surgery and hormone therapies for transgender youth. … “The Democratic Party has run circles around us without any opposition because the vast majority of Republicans shy away from these issues in favor of business and tax topics,” Schilling said. “What I’m hoping is that once we release these ads and numbers start to move, the Trump campaign will see it’s a powerful issue that the Republican Party can use to its success.”

Two weeks ago, APP released polling from 10 presidential and Senate battleground states which showed voters strongly oppose Democrats’ far-left positions on these issues:

“Should boys and men who say they identify as transgender be allowed to compete in girls’ and women’s athletics?”

  • YES – 23.5%
  • NO – 76.5%

“Should children who say they identify as transgender be allowed to undergo physical sex change surgeries or chemical treatments while they are under the age of 18?”

  • YES – 19.4%
  • NO – 80.6%
